WOW.......its been a while!

Well I think I am well overdue for an update ....... :o(
And honestly I dunno where to start its been that long!

I will give a brief rundown of the past couple of months in point form, to make it easier!

* Nov 4th - Lend a Hand for Leukaemia Fundraiser - Had a fantastic day with Mandy. My Class went well......and I was able to even scrap a page!!! I think around $1,500 was raised for the foundation on the day!

* Nov 9th - Clint and my anniversary......nice day in the end, few dramas to start with but azfter that all went well and we had a lovely night together.

* Bathroom reno is officially finished and it looks swisho!!!!! I'm loving it and are quite obsessed with keeping it clean, the floor tiles we chose are a pain to keep clean and there is a tad too much white, gets dirty a lot quicker!

* I officially quit my teaching job and do not have a position to go to this year....... I'm all ready for the big trip overseas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

* Had an emotional time towards the end of the school year, especially after telling the kiddies I was going, what other kinds of jobs are there when people cry when you tell them you're leaving?!?! Very hard and emotional.

* Work break up was lovely, I got two beautiful bunches of flowers, a currency converter calculator and a uk adaptor. Very practical and things I would have forgotten to get myself. Although I am sad to be leaving the school, as I have made some great friendships, I am really excited to what this year will bring!

* Christmas - came and went quickly, nothing too eventful this year. Caught up with all the family, great to spend time with everyone, especially cos I know I will most likely not be in Australia next Christmas. Clint and I got each other ipod classics for our travelling.....now we gotta just upload stuff to them!!!

* Clint and I went camping in Echuca with some friends from the 29th Dec - 1st Jan, was STINKING HOT!!!!!!!! It was like in the 40s everyday! I spent most of the time in the water.....very unlike me, who normally hates swimming, expecially the whole bathers part! Our New Year night was fun, Gem and I got these cool fishbowl glasses, we were able to fit 1/2 a bottle of Champers in it at a time, haha, they are huge!

* I have began working, basically full time, at Chandon Craft (Great Scrapping store in Geelong) and will continue to do so until Clint and I leave to go overseas. My job there is to get the website up and running, adding stock, establishing forum and other areas, ready to go live around February .... its good fun and I love googling over all the yummy supplies. But I must admit that I now know why I chose teaching instead of an office job, I am finding it tough at times to sit for those long periods of time, especially when I am used to moving around so much when I am teaching. But its all good, and what better way to earn money before we go, then doing something scrap related!?!?

* Scrapping wise ...... I have just not had time to do much at all, which saddens me greatly, as I know I have lots of yummy supplies I want to use before I go!!! I managed to make 15 exploding boxes for parent helpers at school!! That was a task and a half, I filled them all with yummy toffees.

Summary of my GOALS for 2007, how did I do?????

Here are my goals, as copied from my Jan 07 post

1/ To get my fitness back and lose weight (I completely neglected my body since I started teaching, no time to exercise at all, I think its time to put it back into top priority!)

Well over the last 4 months I have managed to lose 11kg and I am now currently 4kg from my goal, which is leading me to become a fitter person, so yep I think I achieved this goal!

2. To make a budget - DONE :o) and stick to it!!
I managed not only to make a budget but for the majority of the year, excluding christmas I was able to save a large amount of my pay.......all ready to go overseas now!! Another Goal Achieved....

3. To have more 'Me' time - time to scrap and do things I like to do.
Well this year I may not have had as much 'me' time as I desired but I was certainly not living at school like I did my first year of teaching. I think I part achieved this goal, but not to the effect I would have hoped.
4. To get published in a scrapbooking magazine.
I did this!!! Only one layout though! My page 'Mum Taught Me' appeared in the Nov issue of Scrapbooking Memories, Vol 9, Issue 6. Yeah!!

Now for my Goals for 2008!!!!

1/ Keep up with my weight loss and continue this healthy lifestyle 'til I reach my Goal weight.......and then the tough part......maintain it!!

2/ Enjoy trip overseas and STRESS LESS.......... make the most of all the opportunities that come my way.

3/ Take more photos ....I want to capture the fantastic things that I will get to see and do overseas.

4/ Document everything ....... write a journal during my O/seas trip, in preparations for scrapping all the exciting photos when I am o/seas and when I return :o)

I do not think my Goals for 2008 are too high, hopefully I will achieve them all throughout the year!

Okies....what else to add......

Travel Preparations.........Clint and I FINALLY received our VISA's so now we are ready to go ahead and book our trip.

Plans so far - our ideas

*Leave for Hong Kong approx 18th Feb - Departing to the UK 22nd Feb.........Plans are to shop, visit the sights, night life, Disneyland, etc.

* Arrive at London, find semi-permanent accomodation, visit Teaching agency and get ready to begin teaching around the start of the London school term 26th Feb.

*Teach enough to pay for mini trips around London and Europe........

* Coming home ????? Unsure, we have not set anything in concrete, plans are to simply experience all we can and come home when we are ready.

It all does not quite seem real yet..... it certainly will when we are jet setting off to Hong Kong though!!

I have so much I want to do between now and Feb
- Lose the last 4kg, I want to be on a maintenance program before I go.
- Pack up the house.
- Use up some of my fave scrap supplies! I might not like them when I return...ahhhhh
- Arrange airline tickets and insurance...(must do VERY soon!)
- Spend quality time with my family and friends

Anyways......leaving you with my 3 fave scrapping supplies right now and a Question I am encouraging everyone to help me out with, I am majorly stuck.

Fave products:
1/ Still loving Hambly Screen Prints anything - rub ons and transparencies
2/ KI Memories Lace - I just had to place an order with KitiQ for a couple of pieces, gotta make sure I use it b4 I go!
3/ Doodlebug Frills - they just add the perfect touch to any page.

MY Question - If you have any knowledge on this topic, please answer it, as my head is spinning from all the research I have done and I am now more confused than ever

What camera should I buy from Hong Kong in preparation for my overseas trip???? I have saved enough for an SLR but I am slightly worried about the heaviness of one.......then there is the issue between choosing between a Canon and Nikon......I am also not an expert in photography so I need a camera that is people friendly...Anyone have a Digital SLR that they could recommend and why???

Well best be off its getting late, and this is a LONG entry!! Did you make it this far? Or get bored halfway?!?! haha

Take care
Raquel xoxo
