A New Post ..... as requested

Well I was told it was time for an update, so I will track back to last weekend and what has happened since then....hmmm....not too much.

Last Friday night Clint and I caught up with one of his mates from Aus, Hack, who is over here holidaying. We went to a couple of places and all got very happy, me especially who made a few trips to the toilet that night and the next morning, very sore head the next day!!!!! Heres a couple of pictures from the night.

On Saturday (my birthday) Clint took me to see 'Billy Elliot' on the West End. Both of us were not sure what it would be like but agreed that it was fantastic and the main character in it, the young boy, was just amazing.

The week at work went quite quickly. I was at the same school all week doing Planning Cover for the teachers, which basically means I could be in 3 different classrooms in one day. It is good as I get to know all the teachers, as well as the kids, the days go quickly and I do not have to plan. I am there next week too and if all goes well I will be there until the end of the school year in July! So thats good news.

Clint is at a new site at the moment where he has to lay flooring. He is finding it ok, he can walk there now which is good too, rather than having to catch public transport. He is not impressed with the Health and Safety standards and at one stage there was live wires they were told to just 'work around' which they didnt of course.

Easter weekend break has started, yeah!!! A 4 day long weekend for us.....so far we have done one thing.......go to a highly recommended place......Gourmet Burger Kitchen, thanks Warren (your two favourite UK things - Gourmet Burger and Wine Gums) !! Wow, this place was amazing. You need to have a good budget for this $14 AUD per burger, but if you check out the photos you can see why!!!!!

Plans for the rest of the weekend......thinking of doing some tourist-y stuff this weekend.......gonna see how we go, it will be quite busy being Easter Weekend.

Chatted to Mum, Perty, Mandy and Jo, and Margie today, which was lovely. And great to hear some voices from home. If anyone has Skype, please let us know, as we would love to chat to people from home and it costs basically nothing!!!!

I'll leave by adding a few older photos from last weekend, that blogger wouldnt let me upload then.

Camden :

More of the House :

Oh I forgot to add, some of you may know, we have a pub right across the road from where we are living. Its nice and has good Happy Hour deals. Anyway, Tuesday we come home from work to see film crews and vans everywhere infront of the pub and our house block. Guess who was filming their new film there?? It was..... Burt 'The Bandit' Reynolds!!!! It was a pity we could not take photos!!! But it was cool to have our first encounter with fame here!!!!

One more exciting piece of news that has made my year!! Well close to it anyway.....my fave band ......The Goo Goo Dolls are touring here in July!!!!!!! I am so pumped...we (much to Clints distaste) will be seeing them twice. Once at a music festival, and then again at a concert on their own in Liverpool. we are going to make a weekend out of the gig in Liverpool and do the Beatles touristy stuff whilst there.

The music festival - O2 Wireless Festival is going to be huge. The announced line up so far is Counting Crows, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Powderfinger, Donavon Frankenreiter and the Goos (and some other bands I dont know)

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

And to top all that off there are two major scrapbooking events coming to London in the next month! All is going well here...!!!

Okies, thats all for now!

Take care, xox

Bout time I posted I think.......

*UPDATED WITH PICTURES*

Well I thought I had better post an update as I know that some people check this regularly to check what Clint and I are up to.
Well, what has happened since the last post?

We are pretty much settled in here, and starting to get into a good daily routine. Some people have asked us about our accommodation, where we are living, etc, so I will fill you in now. We are living with an aussie couple Elena and Tim. Elena is in her late 20s and Tim is in his early 30s, they both work in the IT industry. We get along well and they are easy to live with so thats great!

The house we are in, well, I dont know if you could call it a house, but anyway. Everywhere here is in highrise flats, so in our block there are around 15 apartments. Ours is pretty good as it has 2 bedrooms (obviously), 1 bathroom, but the great thing is it has 2 toilets and a separate lounge and dining area. When we were looking for somewhere to stay we found not many reasonably priced places had a lounge or dining space, which would have been a killer as you would basically have to live in your bedroom. We share the kitchen and that is working out fine also as Clint and I start work earlier and get home earlier, so we can start tea before Elena and Tim get home. Here are some pics of our place......

*Blogger is being nasty, I'll try later*

Hmm....what else?
Clint was sick for most of the weekend just gone, I think its probably due to the 'lovely' cold weather we have been having. Its amazing, while we are have between 7-12 degree days, everyone at home is having a heat wave of like 35 degree days! He is enjoying work in the 'mansion' (or so I think it must be anyway) though he says it is not stimulating at all, at the moment he is doing 'protection' work.........some of you may know what that is :oP

Work is going pretty well, I have had a couple of interesting experiences, but this week has been lovely as I have been at the same school for all this week. Its nice as it gives me a chance to chat more to the staff and get to know some of the kids properly. As the schools are so multicultural here I had a hard time for the first few days calling out kids names on the roll. I am proud to say I nearly make it through the entire lists of 30 children per class lately with only one or two mistakes, which the kids think is just hilarious. I was given some positive feedback from the Supply Teacher coordinator, who was informed by teachers I covered how I did, so its nice to know that although I am just doing supply, people are actually noticing how I teach, and if I am any good or not. At the moment, my agency are looking for some more permanent work for me, just so I wont have last minute call outs to school and so I can get to know staff and kids better.

Last weekend was one of our first free weekends here, Clint was not feeling too well so we took it pretty easy. On the Saturday we went into Covent Garden (which is the most beautiful part of London I have seen so far) as there was a travel show on. We picked up HEAPS of brochures and really need to get our act together to start planning our next trip (we may need to plan our trips when its school holidays as I will be out of work then). Then after the travel show we had a wander around the area, saw lots of street performances and where all the broadway shows are. On Sunday we went to Camden, where part of the markets recently burnt down (it was in the news at home). That was certainly interesting as all the people there are very emo/alternative/goth/punk looking. I love watching people like that, and I love that they have the guts to actually get around like that. Still have not gone shopping yet, but its all good!

Clint and I were planning on going away somewhere (maybe Paris) for my birthday this weekend, however we have left it far too late, so we are not sure what we will be doing yet. Thanks to Mum and Margie (I got your cards!) xoxo

Anyways, I will try to update the pictures in the next couple of days. Clint, Elena, Tim and I are off to the pub over the road for tea and a few drinks, and also to join in on the trivia night. What fun!! I hope they arent expecting me to contribute to the quiz (I'm not too good with general knowledge!)

Take care, xox

Our first week

Well we have now been here not quite one week. We have done NO sightseeing at all apart from going to Oxford Street to check out the shopping strip.

I ended up starting work on Thursday, I was told the school was lovely, but I had the worst day teaching ever. The children were absolutely feral and gave me a big turn off the whole teaching thing here, the scary thing was these kids were in the equivalent at prep at home, imagine them in grade six!

Todays school was lovely and the school and classroom were nice and structured. Had a much more enjoyable day!

Well its Friday and Clint and I do not really have plans for the weekend at the moment. To just take it easy would be lovely as this week has been pretty packed chasing up work and bank accounts, a place to live and all that stuff.

Clint has spent the last couple of days chasing up work, but there are a couple of paper work related things that are holding it up. He came home today with a job starting on Monday as a carpenter. Thats all he knows now and is waiting for an email to confirm where he will be.

Anyways, we are loving reading how everyone is and what their plans are. Thanks! Will post again soon when we have something half interesting to say.

Take care xox
