Jot Magazine Mood Board - Challenge #6

Hey everyone,

Today I am here to share with you the latest most gorgeous Jot Magazine Mood Board challenge.

This week we bring you light and breezy lilacs and mint hues. Think tulle, chiffon, light and dreamy layouts with polka dots and all shades of lilac and minty fresh colours.

Image source credits: 1. Karla Fitpatrick via Pinterest here. 2. Lilac flower prints via Pinterest here. 3. Cool mint car via Pinterest from We Heart It website here. 4. Mint drinks in glass bottles via Pinterest here. 5. Lilac cupcakes via the Flikan &Kakorna blog here. 6. Lilac and Mint weddng cake vai the Wedding Gawker website here (photo by Sweetapolita).

How stunning are the colours and images in this picture. The colour combo is just gorgeous, but not one I would normally choose to scrapbook with. I was inspired by the tule, the soft mint colour and the shades of purple.

Here is my take on this mood board:

Layout title: Your very first toothy peg

Products used:
Papers: White Card stock,  Pink Paislee Patterned Paper, We R Memory Keepers Patterned Paper, Fancy Pants Patterned Paper, My Mind's Eye Patterned Paper
Embellishments: Basic Grey Mini Mono Alphabet Stickers, Heidi Swapp Alphabet, We R Memory Keepers tag, D-lish Scraps Bitty Blooms - White , D-lish Scraps Petite Resin Rose Grab Bag , Freckled Fawn Camera Paperclip, Purple twine, Doily, purple paperclip

Close up of the title: Amazingly enough I did do some Mister Huey misting and also this gorgeous Purple gelato watercolour effect, but then I ended up covering the watercolour effect unintentionally with all my layering. Especially with the addition of the tulle! But I just had to include it as it fit so well with the image in the board..

Loving this Freckled Fawn clip and I'm digging displaying the date in banners, think I'll be doing this more.

Close up detail and layering:

Well I really hope you have been inspired to give this mood board a go.  It closes midnight Friday August the 9th, thats 2 weeks away! Giving you plenty of time to have a go :)

D-lish Scraps & Stuck Sketches Challenge - Happiness is like a Butterfly

Today I am here to share with you a layout I created using the May APOCD kit and some gorgeous
D-lish Scraps embellishments.

The layout was based on the July 1st Sketch at Stuck Sketches.

This was the sketch:

When I saw this sketch and the circular elements &butterflies I knew I had to give this one a go. But I also wanted to try a few different things. I decided to pull out my Faber Castell Glaze, my Gelatos and gesso and have a bit of an experimental play. I am quite happy with the result too, I will go into more detail in the close up pictures and also in my post on the D-lish blog towards the end of the month...

Here is my layout:

Layout title: Happiness is like a Butterfly

D-lish Products Used:
Bobby Pins - Silver x 2
Big Blooms Grab Bag
Sequin Bow - Light Pink
Mini Resin Pastel Butterflies Grab Bag
Paper Doiley 20cm round
Washi Tape
Resin bird (coming to the D-lish Store soon)

Freckled Fawn Products available in the D-lish Scraps Store:
Enamel Dew Drops - Black/Grey/White
Enamel Dew Drops - Ombre Pink

Other Products Used:
Papers: White card stock, Plain Vellum, Studio Calico Patterned Paper and Vellum, Simple Stories Patterned Paper
Embellishments: Simple Stories Alphabet and Elements sheet, wire.
Other Products: Faber Castell Gelatos and Glaze, Gesso,  Heidi Swapp Stencil, Tim Holtz tiny attacher and staples, sewing machine and white thread, typewriter.

Here are some close ups of the page:

I decided I wanted to keep the butterflies in the sketch and not change them to another shape. I used the Faber Castell glaze and a Heidi Swapp Butterfly mask to create a resist in my paper. When I applied my gelatos, the butterfly image would resist them and still be evident.  I found the butterflies were not standing out enough so I added a little grey gelato outline, which I blended with my finger. To add dimension I created the wire butterfly flourish and traced the butterfly template onto vellum, cut them out and stapled them to the page.

Here I have also used lots of D-lish goodies, washi tape behind the photo, an adorable sequin bow and the Frecked Fawn enamel dots.

Close up of the journalling, I really love this quote and its so true!

The D-lish resin bird, enamel dots, mini butterfly, etc. Lots of D-lish goodies in this close up :)

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my layout!

Oh an before I forget, other Scrappy News I made it into the Jot Creative team finalists list which can be found here.... now the Jot girls have the fun job of narrowing this list down to a handful of women!

The amount of talent in this list is amazing, and although I doubt that I will make it into the final team of five women, just being on that list, amongst that talent is just so lovely :)

D-lish is turning 4! - My sample for the inspiration challenge - Me? Cheeky? ... Never!?!

It's D-lish Scraps birthday and the are celebrating with a week long event of challenges, competitions and giveaways!

One of the Challenges which is due midnight Friday 11th July (tomorrow) is to use the below mood board as inspiration.

This is what D-lish had to say about the challenge
We have this gorgeous inspiration board filled with yummy colours, textures and an original sketch. You can take inspiration from any OR all of it to create a layout/card/OTP/project life page. Just be sure to tell us where you drew your inspiration from. Entries are open for {2} weeks till midnight Friday 19th July AEST. Winner will be drawn at random and receive a $50 store voucher to spend at D-lish Scraps!! Entries can be loaded to our fb page, linked in the comments to the blog post or emailed to dlishscraps@gmail.com Who's inspired??

I decided to give this one a go just for fun and dug out some gorgeous Amy Tangerine 'Yes Please' papers, alphas and stickers and my D-lish goodies.

I took inspiration from the colours mainly, some of the patterns, and I began the page by using the sketch, but then it morphed into something not like it at all, haha.

Anyways, its of my girl, I have journaled in detail about how cos she is such a cutie she has everyone wrapped around her fingers...

Layout title: Me? Cheeky? ... Never !?!

D-lish Products Used:

Other Products Used:

Embellishments: Amy Tangerine 'Yes Please' stickers, Amy Tangerine 'Yes Please' Transparent Alphabet, American Crafts Ombre Thickers
Other: Tim Holtz tiny attacher and staples, sewing machine and white thread, American Crafts date stamp, black ink, typewriter.

Here are some close up images of the layout:

The gorgeous D-lish resin bird (so bright and vibrant in colour), and Freckled Fawn goodies.

Freckled Fawn wood chips and a close up of the layering used

The Freckled Fawn hearts attach so easily with the Tim Holtz tiny attacher.

I used one of the new Chevron paper bags in the store to hold my journaling. I am finding I am either having brief strip journaling on a page or detailed journaling which I hide behind layers which is on tags. The Amy Tan paper which can be cut up had the perfect 4x6 section to hold my journaling.

My journaling to Charlotte.

Last detail image - close up of main elements on page.

Well, you only have until tomorrow night to get this challenge done, but boy it is such a great challenge! Such awesome colours, nice sketch and cool patterns in the images too. Maybe you could find time to scrap it tonight.

Happy Birthday D-lish!!!

Hope this inspired you to join in :)

July Kraft It Up - New Hair Clips

Today I am here to share my July Kraft It Up Creative Team sample.

The challenge this month was to is to create a layout using a different style than you normally create, for example if you are a textured/layerd scrapper try clean and simple...

*Please make a note of what style you are using when you link your layouts*

Here's a bit of background info behind my sample -

I have had this picture of my little girl for ages now, sitting and waiting to be scrapped. It is on the day when she was wearing the cutest little hair clips for the first time. Hair clips and a four month old baby are normally not words which you would hear together. I wanted to document really how amazing her little head of hear is for her age. These photos were taken 5 months ago now, her hair is even thicker and longer now!

I chose to have a go at the 'grunge/mixed media' style of scrapping. At first I was having a bit of trouble with this style of scrapping. But as I continued adding a variety of layers I started to love it more and more. I used the June 'A Piece of Cake Designs' scrapbooking kit for this layout, and only added the mixed media supplies and the wire from my own stash.

I started with gesso swiped onto the top right of the page, I then pressed some book paper into it and allowed it to dry then peeled it off leaving the bookprint image in parts. I then added patterned paper and washi tape strips. I used a mask and gesso to add another layer. My bits of colour were added with gelatos (I recently got some of these and love the vibrant colours), watercolours , Studio Calico mists and black india ink. I have had a thin wire in my stash for a long time, so I decided if I was going to use it, this was the page to give it a go. I twisted the wire into a heart flourish and stapled it on to the page to attach it.

This page is certainly different to my 'usual' style but I did have fun with it, so you never know I may just scrap another page like this soon!

Layout title: New Hair Clips

Kit: A Piece of Cake Designs June Kit
Card stock: Kraft, Black
