American Crafts Guest - Coffee Scrub & Card Gift Set using True Stories

I am here today to share another Guest Designer project for American Crafts on their blog. Some of the design team and myself are contributing layouts for the Fun in the Sun theme.

I decided to try something a little different for my off the page type item and make a coffee scrub. The perfect gift for someone who wants to have those summer sun legs!

The inspiration behind this project was the lovely coffee cup in the Shimelle True Stories collection. It sparked my thinking about coffee - then led to a DIY coffee scrub that is just like the pricey Frank coffee scrub available but for the fraction of the price. Plus there is no better satisfaction than making a gift rather than buying it premade.

The coffee cup mini is a bit of a booklet which will wrap and secure to the scrub in the jar once it is made. Adds a nice handmade touch.

I added a banner of vellum to secure the coffee scrub title to.

The mini album was mixed with tags shaped in the coffee cup from one of the 4x4" cards, I then used that as a template to cut another two. I added tags, veneer pieces (from Rise and Shine) and cut outs from the patterned papers.

Here are the ingredients I gathered. I followed some instructions I found via google for the quantities and how to make it.

The scrub is the most glorious texture and leaves your skin smelling delicious and silky smooth. I managed to make enough to keep a jar for myself and gift two others.

I accompanied one of the scrubs with a handmade card also. Another nice handmade touch.

I hope this has inspired you and given you an alternative DIY beauty idea. Thanks for visiting.
I will be back soon sharing my last project.
