American Crafts Guest - Always a good idea using True Stories

Today I am sharing another layout for my Guest Designer spot for American Crafts on their blog. Some of the design team and myself are contributing layouts for the Fun in the Sun theme.

For this layout I used the Shimelle True Stories Collection. I loved the papers which gave the opportunity to cut them apart and use them as embellishments.

I decided to document a rare ice-cream treat image which was taken on mothers day. Although I have a major sweet tooth I actually do not eat ice cream that often. So when I do, it is always a special treat and of course,  as the title suggests 'always a good idea'!

I love mixing different alphas for titles. These word stickers are just the best!

Thanks for visiting, I will be back again soon with more shares :)

American Crafts Guest - Good Times using Rise & Shine

I am so completely and utterly over the moon to be Guest Designing for American Crafts on their blog this week. Some of the design team and myself are contributing layouts for the Fun in the Sun theme.

Here is one of the layouts I created using only Amy Tangerine Rise and Shine Collection.

Supplies: Cardstock (71081) - 12x12 White, Rise & Shine (70026) Grace/Phrase Black Foam Thickers, Rise & Shine (70012) Olivia Paper, Rise & Shine (370025) 6x6 paper pad, Rise & Shine (370035) Phrase Stickers, Rise & Shine (370039) Wood Veneer Tags, Rise & Shine (370038) Cardstock Die Cuts, True Stories (370736) Enamel Dots

I just adore this picture of Jack that I snapped in our backyard on a lovely day. Even at 9 months Jack shows such a love for the outdoors! He loves being outside and gets upset if his sister is and he isn't.

I adored the sun and cloud from the 12" patterned paper so I decided to cut it out and make it a feature of the page. The ephemera pack had so many cute bright elements, they were super fun to layer.

For the title I used the Rise and Shine foam word stickers. These were a perfect contrast in the black with the bright colours in the collection.

When I saw the veneer tags I was wanting to include one of this page. I decided to loop some thin crochet thread and tie a bow and layer it ontop of the floral die cut.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! And a big thanks to those who leave me comments, I appreciate them all xx

Pink Paislee - A Gift for a Friend

Hey everyone,

Today I am here to share a special gift that you could give a friend using the Pink Paislee 'Bella Rouge'.

I decided to create a card and a 'bouquet' of flowers. The flowers were cut using the 6x6 papers and a straw blossoms cut file available in the Silhouette Store.

I had the straws left over from my sons birthday and they co-ordinated beautifully with this collection.

The frames on the card were cut from a 12x12 sheet of paper in the collection. I cut the middle of the frames out so I could use elements within the collection like hearts and flowers within them.

The cut file creates perforated lines when cutting.

I fussy cut some flowers from the 12x12 papers as well. And added them with foam adhesive.

I hope you have enjoyed my post today and it has given you a little idea for a sweet gift to make someone special.

Jot Magazine - August Mood Board

Hey everyone

Today I am here to share my contribution for the Jot Magazine August Mood Board.

Here is the gorgeous Board:

And here is my layout: I chose to be inspired by mainly the blue tones, the stonewash look and the leaves.

Layout title:
A Lovely Day

Products used:
Papers: American Crafts White card stock, Plain vellum, Heidi Swapp 'Wanderlust' paper
Embellishments: Heidi Swapp 'Wanderlust' puffy sticker, heart die cut, clip, and flair button, doily, Crate Paper Tags, string
Other: Prima Stencil, Distress Ink, Faber Castell Whipped Spackle, Crate Paper 'Confetti' die, sewing machine, white thread, typewriter.

I love when a layout I create has a lot of dimensional and textural elements.

The subtle look of the Prima stencil and whipped spackle coordinated with the brocade wall art in the Mood Board.

I created a watercolour look background with a 'weathered wood' Distress Ink and the 'packaging' technique.

It was so much fun layering all the flower pieces together to create an embellishment using the Heidi papers.

The tags were from a Crate Paper die cut pack. I added string and bows to the top of each of them

I cut the Confetti die leaves using both white card stock and vellum, the vellum adds a nice subtle layer to the flowers.

The flair button was from a Wanderlust pouch and comes with the foam adhesive already.

I teamed the journaling with some Silver Heidi Swapp alphas and the 'lovely' Heidi Swapp die cut from one of the patterned papers I'd used.

I chose to document a photo taken the morning of the kids Baptism. It was such a beautiful day and I wanted to document the memory of the day and how lucky we were to celebrate this event with those closest to us. It really was a blessed day.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. I hope I have inspired you to get scrapping!

Pink Paislee - Atlas Summer Series; Everyday is an Adventure

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of www.raquelbowman.com. I do receive financial compensation and products from American Crafts to develop certain blog posts, but all of the ideas and opinions are my own.

Hey everyone, I'm here with another layout to share in the Atlas Summer Series where for 20 days on the Pink Paislee blog you can find Summer inspired layouts with free project sheets! How awesome is that!

My journaling:

The colours in this layout were certainly inspired by the Batman singlet my son is wearing. I chose the Altitude and Postcard paper to compliment this, as well as some Black and White American Crafts card stock. Every time I create with the Atlas collection I am more amazed at its versatility. This photo was initially not the one I had chosen to document and didn't think it would 'work' with this collection due to the bold colours, but upon sifting through the papers I could see that I would be able to achieve the colour combination I desired with this collection.

I love using a background cut file to create an interesting feature on a page. I used the cut file here in my store A Piece of Cake Designs and cut it on plain white card stock with the intention of backing it with the patterned papers I had chosen. I love the way these papers and the plain card stock help to make this layout really pop.

Here is a close up look of the cut file backed with the patterned paper:

I used a few layers to mat the photo. One of those being the Captain vellum in the collection.

The cluster which contains part of the title: I love the layer a variety of materials, here I have layered paper, die cuts, chipboard and vellum.

Hope you like this layout I have shared today, don't forget to visit the Pink Paislee blog to download the instruction sheet to complete this at home :)
