Set of Valentines cards with C'est La Vie - Pink Paislee

Well, Valentines day is just around the corner, and what better way to prepare than to make a Valentines Day card. I decided to use the new and gorgeous C'est La Vie collection to make a set of two Valentines Day cards. The C'est La Vie collection features stunning florals, gold, hot pink and contrasts of black. Totally perfect!

For the first card I pulled out a black doily from my stash. I love the big impact it makes with this collection. I then layered a couple of the papers and used the 'me & you' phrase from the cut apart sheet to act as the title sentiment. I added a layer of vellum, and finished the card with a clip and cork heart. So so so pretty!

For the second card in this set I decided to make a giant bow as the main feature. I used an American Crafts Dear Lizzy bow die from my stash and that stunning floral patterned paper in the collection. I backed that bow on a black and white square from the cut apart, a white doily from my stash and then a layer of two patterned papers (one of those cut into triangle corners). I added a touch of machine stitching for a little texture. To finish this card, a 'love' puffy sticker was the perfect touch!

I don't think I have ever been so organised for Valentines Day! Go me!
I hope this post has inspired you to delve into your stash and create some cards.

C'est La Vie 'Love' with Pink Paislee

Hey everyone, I'm here to share a new layout with you today. I am beyond excited to be continuing with Pink Paislee this year and creating with these gorgeous products. C’est La Vie landed on my doorstep recently and boy it is amazing! I created a video walking you through the collection here incase you missed it!

To create the layout I am sharing today I was totally inspired by the paper below from the collection. As soon as I saw it I imagined cutting up all the pieces and designing it into a layout.
Paper Template
Here is the layout I created,
C'est La Vie: Designers Choice 12x12 Layout @raquelLbowman @pinkpaislee #pinkpaislee #ppcestlavie #scrapbooking #layout
The photo is one I took of my kiddies a couple of weeks before christmas. I absolutely adore it and for me this just sums these two up completely. I did not create this layout to journal about an event particular but I actually want to purchase a frame for this one and display it in my craft room.
C'est La Vie: Designers Choice 12x12 Layout @raquelLbowman @pinkpaislee #pinkpaislee #ppcestlavie #scrapbooking #layout
The floral pieces on this layout were cut from one of my favourite patterned papers in the collection. I then layered that with the ephemera tag, handcut heart, and embellished to the right with the gorgeous cork heart, puffy sticker and clear sticker.

To add a bit of detail to the word strips I have added little strips of washi from the washi tape pack. I love how many different designs we can get within a packet compared to having one washi roll! That gorgeous flower was also cut from the patterned paper.
C'est La Vie: Designers Choice 12x12 Layout @raquelLbowman @pinkpaislee #pinkpaislee #ppcestlavie #scrapbooking #layout

When creating the layout I felt like I had to add some detail to the blank space on the top right of the photo. I decided to create a little cluster with a combination of card stock and acetate die cuts, a fussy cut floral piece, a puffy sticker and one of the super cute clips. I finished that cluster with the black with gold foil transparent word sticker.

To add a little more texture and detail I finished the page by adding machine stitching and a couple of the black with gold foil word stickers. A perfect finishing touch!

I am looking forward to continuing to create with this collection.

Sweet Love with the December 2015 Hip Kits

Hey everyone, Raquel Bowman here today sharing a new layout with the December hip kits. Today I decided to use the January sketch as the basis for my design. For me the challenge of this sketch was using the 5 photos.

january sketch
Here is what I come up with. I decided to document my daughters 3rd birthday again. This particular page is of the party table. So many yummy treats to have that a multi photo design was perfect for this.
This cute little bow in the Maggie Holmes Shine collection wood veneer was just calling to be altered. I used gold embossing powder to emboss this partially. I finished it with a gold heart from the Shine alpha stickers an the cute 'rays' from the glitter thickers. I also cut the flower chipboard in half and used half beside this cluster and the other half the opposite top corner.
Here is the remaining half. I also added a Heidi Swapp label, chipboard from the Maggie Holmes and Studio Calico packs and a glitter thicker heart. I also applied whipped spackle through a star stencil in a diagonal direction to add a bit of texture to the page . Finishing that with a splatter of Gold Lame Heidi Swapp mist.
The title was created using a combination of a Shine acetate die cut piece (don't forget to peel off the plastic coating) and the Gold thicker phrases. Such a simple but statement title!
For this photo I decided to pop a couple of layers behind the photo. I used a mini doily from my stash and cut up some patterned papers to layer. I also used a Heidi banner label.
The love this day was from the Shine ephemera pack. Another one you need to peel the coating from! This was easy to attach with a bit of liquid adhesive as it dries clear.

The last photo was a larger photo as it was of the cake I made for the party. I decided to layer this with some of the patterned papers from the kit and a doily from my stash. This was adhered to the page with foam adhesive. I also embellished this with a handout '3', a die cut tab and one of the Heidi Swapp clips.

I hope this page has inspired you to get creating with the January kits.

I will be back soon with more shares!

Turning 3 with the December 2015 Hip Kits

Hey everyone,

I'm here with a layout using the December Hip kits. I have created this layout documenting my little girls third birthday. The December kit has been perfect for documenting this event with its creamy and soft pink tones which match the princess party theme of the birthday beautifully.

The pictures were from a little photo shoot I did with my daughter the morning of her party. In these images she was trying to show me that she was three on her fingers, but as we know our ring finger doesn't like to stay up so she was giggling that it kept falling down. It was a cute little moment and I am glad I snapped it.

I layered the ephemera from the Maggie Holmes Shine collection and some of the cut outs from one of the patterned paper in a vertical direction. I stuck to cream, pink and mint tones. I added a pop of silver in too when embellishing as I just had to use those Freckled Fawn stickers.

The cut file running horizontally across the page is one I created from one of Nicole's cut files for December. I decided to weld three of the hearts together to create a feature. I then backed them in a patterned paper and adhered them to the page with foam tape.

The three hearts and three photos worked well across the page. I highlighted the middle photo by applying that to the page with foam. I also backed it with a more neutral pattern from the 6x6 paper pad.

A page is not complete for me without a date or journaling so they were added with stamps and typewritten text.

Bubble fun with Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hey everyone, I'm here sharing a new layout using the stunning, summery fun 'Hello Sunshine' collection. I adore the bright colours in the collection and those wood buttons, oh my!
bubbletime-raquelbowmanThis is the layout I completed. I normally will create a layout with diagonally placed embellishments. However, I rarely tilt a photo on a diagonal. I am happy with how this one turned out and I think I will try this layout design again. bubbletime-raquelbowman-1
I decided to cut the main part of my title with my cameo. I ran this on a diagonal on the page and then backed it with the Solar Flare and Happy Days papers. I completed the title using the Alphabet Stickers and some layered die cut ephemera. bubbletime-raquelbowman-2
I wanted a bright paper to back my photo. I was going to use the Sunny spot paper but decided it wasn't bright enough so I used the Happy Days paper instead and made sure that the 'word' look of the paper wasn't a focus. I adhered my whole photo mat to the page using a foam tape. bubbletime-raquelbowman-3 This little cluster to the top left of my photo was so fun to make. There is a bit of everything here, the die cut ephemera, wood buttons, enamel dots and fussy cut paper. So much fun! bubbletime-raquelbowman-4
I finished the page with a scattering of enamel shapes and some Butter Heidi Swapp Colour shine. bubbletime-raquelbowman-5

I hope I have inspired you to scrap some of those summer fun photos! Raquel x

2016 - Resolutions and Goal using Crate Papers Shine collection and the Dec Hip Kits

Hey everyone

Happy New Year!
I love the feeling of starting a fresh new year, a time to make goals and resolutions and hopefully stick to them too!
I decided to use the December Hip Kit to create a page with my goals for 2016. I just absolutely adore the Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper Shine collection. If you are wondering what the collection looks like I shared a video here

This page ventures into the world of hand stitching, something I do not do very often. And I also had a bit of fun creating a statement title with my silhouette cameo.

The goals were typed and cut into strips.

How beautiful is the ephemera? I used a photo of me in the negative of the zero. Love how it looks.

The one is backed with the acetate specialty paper from the collection. So cute!

I used an embossing technique which I am in love with on the veneer. Taping it off and using an embossing dauber to get a clean crisp line.

This was a great excuse to use the cute chipboard pencil and birdy.

What are your resolutions? Do you set them each year? Would love to hear from you.
