Remember this Always - A Cocoa Vanilla Studio and Faber Castell collaboration

Hey everyone, today I am sharing a layout as part of a Faber Castell and Cocoa Vanilla Studio collaboration.

I have been updating a photo wall in our house and have been going back into my photo stash and reminiscing on older photos. While looking through the photos I found this one of our little girl which I thought would be lovely to feature on a layout. It is one of those ‘just because’ layouts and I just adore how blue her eyes look and how baby soft her skin is.

Here is the layout I created : Remember this Always

Faber Castell Gelatos – peach & guava

Faber Castell Whipped Spackle

To create the background I firstly preprepared my card stock with a clear gesso. I simply coloured the background with the peach and guava gelatos. I only shaded it lightly and then using a wide brush and water I was able to blend the gelatos in wide horizontal strokes. I added touches of the peach gelato in three parts creating a visual triangle.

As you can see from the image below I also used an intricate floral stencil and my favourite Faber Castell product Whipped Spackle to create detailed texture on my background.
I cut the Cut Files on just a white textured card stock. I love the crisp look of white cut files on a page. I also added a flair from the collection which matched this colour palette and a flower from one of the Happy Blooms packs. To create a centre of the floral piece I added an enamel dot from the Cool pack in the collection.

The heart and choose happy phrase were cut out from the Snip Its pack. I fussy cut around them both to turn them into die cuts and also adhered them both with foam tape; creating a multi dimensional embellishment.

I generally will create a layout in a visual triangle design. I do this as I feel it balances out my layouts and doesn’t make them too heavy on one side. To balance out the bottom photo and embellishment clusters, I added a cluster to the top right corner. This contains labels from the Snip Its pack and a cut file. As well as some extra textured detail using the stencil and again the whipped spackle.

The gelato topped with the stencilled detail of the whipped spackle gives such a lovely and feminine effect to a page. The use of the broad brush creates an even painted effect which I also like. This technique, if you follow my style was a little out of my comfort zone (that may be an understatement). But I must admit I had a lot of fun and I also think it is something I might have more of a play with in the future.

I love that even using these new techniques and mixed media products I was able to stay true to my style and create a soft, feminine and dimensional layout.

Absolutely divine layout, so soft and precious. I love the intricate floral mask that you used on the background and was wondering if you could tell me the make etc of it. Much appreciated. xx
