Happy Summer Days with Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hey everyone, I'm here with you today sharing a new layout featuring the lovely Endless Summer collection. I am so happy to be continuing on the Cocoa Vanilla team for the 2017 year, and look forward to sharing a lot more layouts with you all. These last couple of weeks where I live here in Aus seem to be showing signs that Summer is well and truly here so I was in a summery documenting kind of mood!

Here is the layout I created: HAPPY SUMMER DAY

I wanted to use this collection to document a summer moment for my little man taken in January last year. The kids were given a really fun paddling pool from my aunt and uncle with a slide and dinosaur sprinkler (which has featured in a couple of my previous layouts here). This was his first summer having a paddling pool and he had an absolute ball in it. To document the story I typed my journaling on my typewriter and cut it into strips.
HAPPY SUMMER DAY-1The layout features a colour combination of the mint toned papers teamed with the woodgrain, and white of course! I used a leaves design cut file that I had previously purchased and backed that with the wood grain paper. I love how it really pops off the page against the white of the die cut. My goal was to use other elements from the collection apart from flowers as I had created a few layouts with mainly the florals already.
  HAPPY SUMMER DAY-5
To help ground the page I added a vertical strip of the diagonal mint stripe paper. I think I have adored any kind of stripe paper in the Cocoa Vanilla collections, and this one is no exception. I also added a small strip of the cream spot paper, just to break up the strip between the mint stripe and the bold white of the card stock. I stitched that just for some added texture. To help keep the page balanced I added a small wood button from the collection to the top left of the page and also stapled a cute little 'so much fun' tag too.
HAPPY SUMMER DAY-2To the top right of the photo and to help complete my visual triangle I have added a cluster of embellishments, part of which will act as my title. The cluster contains ephemera pieces, a wood button, enamel shapes, stickers and even the 'endless summer' logo from one of the manufacturer strips on one of the papers. I added these to the page with varying depths of adhesive to add some more detail to that grouping.
HAPPY SUMMER DAY-3The photo itself of my son I chose to print in black and white. I love black and white photos so much but not only do I love them but they also allow me to work with any colour palette I choose. I matted the photo on the cream spot paper, added a small 5" doily from my stash and also added some foam adhesive to help the photo stand out off the page and remain the focus of my layout.
HAPPY SUMMER DAY-4 As well as my journaling I also added a small little cluster of embellishments there as well. It contains the 'yay' veneer, a puffy sticker, wood button, and a few more smaller bits and pieces, all which were from the previous Summer collection 'Hello Sunshine'.
HAPPY SUMMER DAY-6 I hope this layout has inspired you today to use the gorgeous Endless Summer collection to scrapbook those little summer fun day to day moments! HAPPY SUMMER DAY-DESK

I love everything about this layout...the colors, the papers, and your adorable photo! Do you remember where you purchased the cut file from? I love it too!
