Love You To Pieces | August Layout and Process Video | Hip Kit Club

Hey everyone, 

I am here today sharing a layout that I created using the August Hip Kits which can be found at www.hipkitclub.net

I fussy cut some of the cut apart Amy Tan sheet to use as embellishments. 

That little birdie is just so cute!

Of course I had to type the journaling with my typewriter!

I created my own ephemera by sticking the clear stickers to white card stock and cutting around them. This made it easy to move them around my page. 

This cut file is an exclusive - how gorgeous is it? This is the 8.5x11" one, but it was perfect for this page and I like how it sits in the center of the layout.

Wild Heart | Take Me Away Layout | Pink Paislee

Hey everyone, Raquel here with you today sharing a new layout featuring punches and the gorgeous Take Me Away collection. I wanted to show you a fun way that you can create a soft and subtle but beautiful texture on the backgrounds of your layouts.

To create this layout I collected my border punches, mainly from the American Crafts ‘Knock Outs’ set, fringe scissors, and papers and embellishments from the Take Me Away collection.

The Knock Out punch sets by American Crafts contain the main punch holder and multiple border punch designs, making it easy to get a variety of punched designs from the one tool.

I began this page by cutting out 1″ wide strips of white cardstock. I then punched reached 12″ length piece using the various border punch designs that I had. I also added a few strips that were fringed to add more texture to these layers. I adhered these to the page in a layered design on the bottom 2/3 of the 12×12″ layout. I love the texture that this brings to the page, even though it is a white-on-white design.

To embellish the page I fussy cut the flowers from Paper 02 in the collection. I placed the florals in a way that made the leaves point to the top and bottom of the page and cut enough to balance the florals on either side of the photo.

To the right of the photo I added a small ampersand from the ephemera pack and also one of the floral flowers.

The title ‘wild heart’ was from the foam Thickers pack. To balance out the gold of the title I added two of the gold hearts to the page, forming a visual triangle. This is a design technique which I use often to ensure my layouts remain balanced.

This was the first time I had layered white on border strips to a background, but it is one I would definitely do again. I love the detail and texture this brought to my page.

I hope this layout had inspired you and given you an alternative idea to using those border punches you may have in your stash.

Love is | Love Always Layout | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hey everyone, I'm here with you today sharing my latest layout featuring the gorgeous Love Always collection. For this layout I wanted to document the selfies my cute little man and I took together back in May this year. He had begun to pull silly faces when taking photos as he could see himself in the reverse camera. I just loved these photos and this gorgeous collection was perfect to document about them.

For the design of my layout I stuck to a somewhat vertical design, with some embellishing happening on a slight diagonal.
For the title I used one of the 6″ strips in the cut apart sheet. It was the perfect colour and the text suited my photo and theme. I typed the journaling on my typewriter and added that in strip form below it.

I love to add balance to a page and because of the ‘top heavy-ness’ of the layout with all the layers, this page required some small embellishing at the bottom of the page. The tassel in the Bits and Pieces pack was calling my name to be used. I threaded it on a tag (also from the pack) and wound it around one of my layers in my cluster. To secure it on the page I added a small dot of liquid adhesive which will not be able to hold it in place. When I create clusters I will more often than not add small embellishments like enamel shapes, or in this case buttons too, in odd numbers to embellish the layout.

So many layers behind this photo. I have added an illusion of layers also by cutting apart smaller pieces of paper and adhering them to each side of the photo. This makes it seem like it is one continuous piece and saves paper. I also added a doily from my stash (lets face it, I am addicted!).

To balance the cluster at the bottom right of the page I added one to the top left. This was made up from a few ephemera, a chipboard piece, a homemade star embellishment and the glitter enamel dots.

I finished the page by trimming a 1/4″ off all edges of the white card stock and matting it on the text patterned paper from the collection. I also machine stitched for added texture and to emphasise the square layout design.

I hope I have been able to inspire you with a new page using this amazing collection.

Combining Pink Paislee and Heidi Swapp: Memorydex

Hey everyone, I'here today sharing with you an off-the-page tutorial which features one of my favourite techniques: layering. I am sharing with you a Heidi Swapp Memorydex tray that I have created inserts for featuring the Take me Away designer collection by Paige Evans.

To complete this project you will need: a MemoryDex tray, a MemoryDex punch and dies, papers & embellishments from the Take Me Away collection.

To begin with I cut the patterned papers and some printed vellum from my stash to size, ready to roll through and cut out using a die cutting machine like the We R Memory Keepers Evolution machine.

Once I had die cut the cards out I placed them into the tray trying to get a variance of card design, pattern, and colour.

I added a few handmade cards simply from using the Take Me Away cut apart sheet and my MemoryDex punch.

It is so easy to customise inserts within the tray using this punch. You could use 3×4 cards, photos, tags, or even die cut ephemera to add as a separation between the cards.

I wanted to create this MemoryDex to house all the selfies that my family and I take together that make me smile. I printed them on my Epson Picturemate using the 4 to a page setting so the photos were small in size.

I chose the title card to say ‘smile’ as I thought it was fitting for a selfie MemoryDex. I embellished with layers of papers (one of my favourite layering pieces) a doily, and chipboard from the collection.

To change up the card textures I cut some of the cards using vellum from my stash. This particular vellum is by Crate Paper and has a gold foil which complements this collection beautifully. I embellished this card with a punched circle from patterned paper, layered with a wood veneer and a die cut tag.

For this card, I added a family selfie combined with lots of layers of paper, wood veneer, and chipboard pieces.

For some of the cards I simply embellished them with layers comprising of a doily and chipboard pieces.

Some of my layers are simply punched out circles from patterned papers. I added a stamp ‘you & me’ using the Take Me Away roller stamp at the top of the tab on the card.

Due to the size of the cards, I was able to use scraps of patterned paper from the collection to layer with.

Best ever - a layout using Cocoa Vanilla's Make a Wish

Hey everyone,

I'm here today sharing a new layout using the stunning new Make a Wish collection. My challenge to myself for this layout was to create a page of my little man using it. From the outside this collection may seem really girly because of the colour of pink featured throughout. However, I was easily able to select a masculine toned colour palette and embellishments to compliment my page.

Here is the layout I created:

The photo I have chosen to document for this layout is one of my son at his first birthday cake smash that I did with him. I managed to capture a moment when he was shoving a piece of cake right into his mouth. I took numerous photos on this occasion and have documented some of them already, but this is one I had on my ‘to scrapbook’ pile.

I decided to add the wood veneer embellishments to this page to compliment the veneer look paper. I added detail to the left of the photo with a small strip of binding edge punched paper. The whole photo mat was adhered to the page with foam adhesive.

The title was made up of an ephemera word strip ‘best ever’ and the wood veneer word ‘wish’. The photo contained white space which gave me the opportunity to overlap my title on top.

I just adore the tiny word stickers that can be found at the bottom of the accessory sticker sheet, don’t you? The ‘eat cake’ sentiment was perfect and in a blue tone font too! I also added the wood veneer stars from the veneer pack as they were the same type of design of star and worked with the layout beautifully.

I used a star cut file as the main design feature of my page, it was a cut file from my ever expanding cut file library. I used three of the patterned papers in the collection to back the stars. Some I chose to leave plain. When backing the cut files I tried to get an even distribution of the patterns. The cut file was adhered to the page with a foam adhesive.

I wanted to create a cluster at the bottom of the page, which would be somewhere that I could add the date of the image. I added a combination of the card stock ephemera and the vellum ephemera, as well as a touch of that binding edge punched patterned paper too. The Glitter enamel dots made a nice finishing touch to this cluster.

Go See Do with Outfitters by Pink Paislee

Hey everyone, I'm here today sharing a new layout I created for Travel week over on the Pink Paislee blog. Of course, it was fitting to use the new Outfitters collection and a touch of Cedar Lane in there too.

Here is the layout I created:

My inspiration behind this layout was to create a cover page for a travel themed scrapbooking album. Pre-children my hubby and I did extensive travel and lived, travelled Europe, and worked in London. Of late, in the month of June, I also did quite a bit of travel to different scrapbooking events teaching and also being an attendee. I wanted to have a cover page that was quite generic and that could suit documenting multiple different travels.

The main feature of the page is a cut file that I backed with one of the Outfitters papers. I loved the blue/grey tones in the paper and thought it would be perfect to go behind the globe. The globe is a free cut file which can be downloaded here.

I created a cluster behind the top left side of the globe featuring a die cut tag and ephemera, a handmade tag from remaining papers, and multiple copper foiled clear stickers.

When I create clusters and layers on my pages I love to layer and tuck and weave embellishments to add more detail. Here I have tucked the photo and its layers under the die cut.

I am absolutely in love with the Thickers in the Outfitters collection. They are copper foiled and just amazing to use. What a statement they make on your pages!

I follow the design idea of visual triangles on my layouts. I needed my third point of the triangle so I created a small layered detail on the globe stand. This ‘get outside and enjoy the view’ and ‘today’ were cut from the cut apart sheet in the collection. I added a copper foil clear arrow sticker pointing towards the text to act as a tool to direct your eye to it.

A layout dedicated to E2C 2016; Pink Paislee Take me Away

Hey everyone! I'm here today sharing a new layout featuring the new Paige Evans ‘Take Me Away’ collection that I created for the ‘Lots of Photos’ week on the Pink Paislee blog. 

For this layout I decided to document a recent scrapbooking retreat event I went to in Australia. I had a lovely time and took many photos. The lots of photos theme on the blog this week was the perfect opportunity to document a handful of the many photos that I had taken.

To create this layout I decided to stick to a circular design. I had recently invested in a large circle punch which I was itching to have a play with. I used the punch, which is about 2″ in size to punch out 6 of the photos I had printed. I printed the photos at wallet size making the 2″ punch the perfect size for these photos.

To begin this page I scattered the photos in a vertical arrangement down the page. I then used my manual die cutting machine and nested circle dies to cut out lots of circles from 4″ strips of selected patterned papers in the Take me Away collection.

Once I had a bundle of the circles I began matting the circles either behind the photos or in a clustered design continuing them down the page to compliment the vertical design I had created.

As I sifted through the embellishments I had for this collection I noticed the veneer pack also had some circular pieces within the designs. So I decided to incorporate and feature the veneer on this page too. I love the lightness of this veneer and also the pop of colour that they bring to the page.

I added the veneer arrow pointing towards the title to draw and direct your attention to it.

The gold and white phrase thickers in this collection are absolutely stunning. The text ‘fabulous weekends’ was perfect for this page however I found the fabulous to be too large for the space I had left for the title. So I adapted the ‘fabulous’ with some American Crafts Thickers in my stash which suited the page better.

The vertical strips down either edge of the page serve the purpose of bringing your attention back into the focal point of the photos. I added some machine stitching along the strips also to add further detail.

This layout design was such an easy way to add multiple photos to a page and to document such a special memory.
